Dreampattern
Wallpainting
Variable dimensions
2007

The wallpainting pattern is based on the slits of the Dreamachine, device built in the 60s made from a rotating cylinder with slits cut in the sides on a specific pattern (the wallpainting one) and a lightbulb in the middle. The rotation speed allows the light to come out blinking at a constant frequency corresponding to Alpha waves, electrical oscillations normally present in the human brain while relaxing. Viewed with eyes closed, the pulsating light stimulates the optical nerve and alters the brain’s electrical oscillations.
The wallpainting has nothing luminous anymore, its only effect is in the device evocation and the period it induced (Beat Generation) and the hypnosis generated by repetition of pattern.
